Prioritize your Happiness

You deserve to be happy, but happiness does not wait for you. You go for it. It comes with a lot of hard work. If you want something, go for it. You want to live your life with the intention that whatever you do will contribute to your happiness.

You want to make the hard decisions that will bring about happiness even though it comes in the end. Do not confuse happiness with pleasure.

Pleasure is a product of immediate gratification most often than not. I see happiness as more long-term and fulfilling.

Doing things that contribute to your happiness doesn’t mean that you would find it easy. It means the opposite. It means doing what you want to do. Being with the person you want to be with. Doing the job you are passionate about.

All of these don’t mean that there would be no hard times. Far from it. But it means that when hard times come, you have just the right motivation to want to scale through. You begin to see hard times as an impediment to your happiness rather than work. So, you put in the work to find a solution.

When you go for things you want, every other thing becomes easier. For instance, if you are doing a job you love, while your colleague hates that same job, you clearly would outperform that person. However, the first step to prioritizing your happiness is knowing what you want, love or are passionate about. Then go for it with all you got and enjoy it with all your heart.

So, as you come to the end of this article, ask yourself the hard question – what do I want?

Once you get your answer, prioritize your happiness.
