The Problem with Commitment

Commitment is one of those big words they give awards for.

Looks like a cool dude on the surface but it is crazy difficult once you get up close.

The problem with commitment is that you do not know what you signed up for.

Yes, you know in theory that it will be hard, quite unpleasant, but you do not know to what degree it would be.

When you decide to be committed, you are signing up to a future you are not ready for but you think you are

Say in a relationship, you do not know what your partner will turn out to be but you commit still.

You do not know the working condition of your dream job yet you commit to it.

You do not know if that business will yield fruit neither do you know how diffciult that challenge is.

You see, the problem with commitment is the beauty of it.

That you have no control of the outcome yet you are courageous enough to signup to find out.

Commitment is not necessarily to find answers or to know the outcome.

Commitment is to know yourself.

Your limits.

How far you can go.

Commitment is not measured by whether you completed the task, or you got married to a toxic person or stayed put in a toxic job.

Commitment is believing you had to guts to pull it through.

If you eventually did not pull through, at least you tried.

You did all you could. You fought for what you believed in.

And that is a win, at least.

Maybe you will find a better person or job or maybe not.

But you signed up.

This is the problem with commitment and also the beauty.

If you lost, sign up again or sign up for something better.
