The School We Want: A Rant & A Wish
We want a school where people go to because they want to and not because of the need to get a job
We want a school that we enjoy going not the one we are threatened to go to
We want a school that we look forward to going on a daily basis.
We want a school that is fun not boring
We want a school that helps us explore our creativity not the one that forces us to be compliant.
We want a school allows us study what we want not what they want us to
We want a school that understands that we different individuals and not the one that doesn’t care about our individuality
We want a school that our teachers are our friends not our superiors.
We want a school that allows us make something not pass an exam
We want a school that treats us as humans and not as machines.
We want a school that allows us learn in groups and not in isolation
We want a school that we do not need 20+ years to complete.
We want a school that helps us learn soft skills like critical thinking, decision making, relationships, etc.
We want a school that promotes collaboration and not competition
We want a school where the teachers are guides not information providers
We want a school where the student’s curiosity is harnessed not killed
We want where we produce more than we consume
We want a school where “I do not know it” is not a reason to be flogged
We want a school that plays on my strength and not punish me for my weakness
We want a school where teachers are paid well and are happy to be teachers
We want a school that is flexible not one filled with irrelevant rules
Is this kind of school too much to ask?
Not too much to ask.
